Highlights of impactful engagements during our tenure

During our tenure, the Southwest Regional Administration of the Nigerian Medical Laboratory Science Students’ Association (NIMELSSA) has actively engaged in impactful academic, professional, and leadership activities across institutions and events within and beyond the region.

Through these activities, our administration continues to uphold the ideals of professionalism, innovation, and unity among Medical Laboratory Science students in the Southwest region and beyond.

Participation in Major Summits

Attended the Young Medical Laboratory Scientists Forum (YMLSF) Regional and National Summits, representing the region with excellence and commitment.

Courtesy Visits to Institutions

Paid official visits to the following institutions:

  • Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti
  • Bowen University, Iwo

  • Redeemer’s University, Ede

Conducted high-profile visits to the Vice-Chancellors of:

  • Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH)
  • University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED)
Royal and Professional Engagements
  • Visited traditional rulers including the Alaafin of Oyo and the Soun of Ogbomoso.
  • Paid a courtesy visit to the AMLSN Oyo State Chairman-Elect, MLS Akinbile Adebola to foster stronger professional collaboration.
  • Participated in the Ogbomoso Cradle Carnival to strengthen community ties.
Strategic Partnerships & Recognitions
  • Secured two distinguished patrons for the region — Prof. Mujeeb Shittu and Mr. Akeem Adesina Odekanmi — in recognition of their unwavering support for student development.
  • Strengthened professional relationships with institutional leaders and stakeholders to foster collaboration and mentorship opportunities for students.
  • Received commendations for commitment to student development and professional advancement across the Southwest region.
National Representation

Represented the Southwest Region at the 48th NIMELSSA National Convention, contributing actively to deliberations at the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) in Abuja.

Academic & Capacity-Building Events
  • Successfully hosted the 2nd Edition of the Southwest Regional Congress, proudly organized by the UNIMED Chapter.
  • Facilitated nine (9) professional webinars covering diverse and relevant Medical Laboratory Science topics.
  • Organized a specialized Data Analysis training sponsored by SQI College of ICT, empowering students with digital and analytical skills.
  • Encouraged inter-institutional academic collaboration through virtual and physical knowledge-sharing platforms.
